CELEBRATING 125 YEARS
History of Our Centralization On July 21, 1930 the voters of 27 small schools in and around Marathon voted by a large margin to form a centralized school district and elected a new school board. This was to become one of the first central school districts in New York State. Those voters and that new school board are our heroes. They planned a “state-of-the-art” school building that was the finest from Binghamton to Syracuse, and again, the voters of the district approved the plan. To take this major step during the depression showed courage and faith in the future. That future was our grandparents, our parents, our children and us. It brought education to the rural areas and comprehensive schooling to all children in the new district. |
The alumni association endeavors to maintain an accurate database of our alumni. We appreciate any assistance with name and address updates. If there is someone in your class who we may contact for verification of information, please let us know. |
